At Alaya, each piece arrives with the echoes of its makers, reflecting the process and stories that shaped it.
The Lotus Leaf
Before the flower lifts toward light, the leaf arrives.
Unfolding across still waters, the lotus leaf rests like a quiet horizon, holding rain, reflection, and sky upon its skin.
Droplets gather, shimmer, and slip away, leaving no trace behind.
It lives in the world, yet refuses its weight.
While the bloom receives devotion, it is the leaf that steadies the journey: drawing light, shielding life, and spreading calm across the water’s surface.
From Earth To Form
Olee Maatee was born in Konkan, an initiative of CREDAR, supported by the Pitre Foundation.
With a quiet intention: to empower local artisans and honour inherited craft.
In the hands of Bharati Pitre, sculptor and mentor, that intention found form.
Here, nothing is hurried. Papier mâché and ceramic are shaped through patience and touch... layered, observed, and allowed to become. Texture speaks.
Petrified Wood
Before it was reclaimed by the Earth, it was a tree breathing light.
Roots in the dark, branches in the sky, marking seasons in rings and gathering years in silence.
The wood was sealed away from decay, buried beneath layers of shifting earth.
Mineral-rich waters moved through it, replacing fibre with crystal… cell by cell, century after century.
What might have vanished instead transformed. Grain became stone.
Growth became geology. Time itself settled into matter.
An ancient presence, shaped by the evolution of time, prepares to arrive. Our Petrified Wood collection is coming soon, a quiet encounter with the Earth’s own archive.
